Tutuapp is jailbreak?

Hey, I downloaded the tutuapp yesterday. I didn't install it, but added it to device management. Is it a jailbreak? And if I deleted and reset my phone to factory settings, is my ios software flawless?

Here, with just the profile loaded and with no apps loaded, then your security was not compromised and with no risk of information loss, and with no need to reset.

Remove the profile.

If this had gone further… A device reset is the sole available option for removing suspect or actual malware.

What might have already happened to information on a device once malware has been loaded has already happened. Little can be done, once the data has been leaked.

Apps intended to bypass Apple’s malware scans can be, or can become malware, and can introduce vulnerabilities. These apps and tools inherently exist outside the Apple app store, which allows the app providers to avoid the malware scans performed at app store submission, and to avoid the ability Apple has to remotely revoke apps later found vulnerable or problematic, and allows the apps to override device-level protections. And I’d absolutely assume that any of these apps can turn bad in any update. That’s just the nature of the folks wanting access to the data on your devices.

Put differently, jailbreaks are the very definition of “are you feeling lucky?”

Hey votae,

TutuApp has 2 versions, for jailed and jailbroken iPhones. The profile is for verification purposes, it doesn't jailbreak your iPhone. To remove it, just select remove from the Device Management page. Consider using AltServer instead to install other apps. Restoring the iPhone to factory settings is just annoying for me.

Thanks,

you can remove a profile by following the directions in this link

Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone - Apple Support

however if you restore your device to factory you should be fine, run any updates from Apple if they are available.

if the app developer used the app to collect account info such as usernames and passwords that would be outside the scope of a reinstall fixing it.

if you are downloading outside the App Store you are willingly taking a risk

It is very easy to add an app to the app store, as long as it conforms to Apple’s security and privacy requirements. That’s why there are 2 million apps in the app store. So it is reasonable to assume that any app that cannot be installed from the app store does NOT meet Apple’s security and/or privacy requirements. You are taking a real risk of having data stolen or actual spyware installed if you “side load” apps that require a management profile.

And you believe you can trust something that is explicitly designed to give you access to stolen software why, exactly?

App cracks don’t only target the app vendors who get their apps cracked, but also target those folks looking to use the cracked apps.

Best of all for those cracking the apps, the folks using the cracked apps that then themselves get scammed or get their data ripped are less likely to complain to anyone, when they themselves were already using cracked apps.

The profits available from the users of the cracked app can be the whole reason that the cracked apps are even made available.

More succinctly phrased, no honor among thieves.

The search results seem clear.

If you solely installed the profile and installed nothing further, you’re probably fine.

If you did more than install the profile, then no one here knows what did or did not happen to any information present on your device, and you’re best assuming a complete compromise.

if the app is from Apples App Store it is not a jailbreak. anything outside of the store that has to be installed by modifications is not advised.

iOS on it's own as a platform does not contain the tools for developers to hack the device, so while nothing is flawless a compromised app would not be able to hide malicious code if it's from the App Store
