Can’t restore The Economist subscription

I purchased an annual subscription to The Economist and after six months I updated my iPad. On the new iPad I tried to restore the purchase unsuccessfully. Apple says they can’t do anything about it, not even refund since it’s been six months from the purchase and The Economist has sent me multiple, long, workarounds, some of which involved re-downloading an archaic version of their app. None worked, it’s been two months and they are not even responding anymore to the requests on what I should do next…. Has anyone faced and solved this issue? Looks like there was a thread (I am not able to restore my economist sub… - Apple Community) but no solution…
