Have a old MacBook Pro made in 2010 with macOS High Sierra 10.13.6.

How do I do a factory restore on this laptop? Going to give the laptop to a friend to have.

From a shut down state—can you boot to internet Recovery(?)


with firmware updates 2010+ Mac’s running macOS 10.12.6+ should have access to Internet Recovery and the Diagnostic

On an Intel-based Mac, you can use Shift-Option-Command-R during startup to be offered the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available. Otherwise stand alone installers—
