migrate data over from old to new MacBook Air

Migrating data from an old to new MacBook Air. How do I know what data to migrate? I’m currently receiving a message that says there is too much data to move over from my old air to the new one.

Hello, TDMD75.

Let's start off by checking the helpful steps in this article that was pinned to your question: Move your content to a new Mac - Apple Support. Check the "On your new Mac" section for further details on selecting what to transfer. The critical files needed to run the macOS will be present so there's no need to worry with those. What you are selecting are the files, documents, photos, etc that are important to you.

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue. Thanks and have a fabulous day!
