Why should I update to 15.6.1.?

Why can’t Apple use layman’s language? Kernels are on corn and don’t have privileges! Can a fellow user explain why it’s important to install? Every new IOS causes some kind of little glitch!

Yes. You should update.

i dislike updates as well, oftentimes I find my phone glitching afterwards. But I’d much rather temporary glitches than security risks.

The update seems to be a response to a report of an attack on IOS making much more progress, getting much further, than they should have been able to get. The “kernel” is essentially the “captain” code for IOS, it needs and has access to pretty much everything. And it runs in unrestricted privilege mode. Essentially- arbitrary code execution implies that someone targeted IOS, and gained the ability to run unlimited and unsecured commands and codes using safari, I’m assuming, that was the “in”, I don’t much at all about coding or how it works, but I know how to use the internet to research topics and subjects I’m unfamiliar with and educate myself as much as possible, which is what I did when trying to understand what the details of this update mean. From what I understand- kernel is the cob that holds the power as far as access and commands go. And this report scared apple enough to make them respond immediately and do what they do so well, fix things and keep their system as safe as they can

Why?

In plain non-technical language, that avoids the critical detail that is meaningful to those with greater knowledge and expertise - keeping your system software fully updated is essential, as these updates include important security updates that patch current and emerging security threats to which you will otherwise be vulnerable.

If not updated, your device will be increasingly vulnerable to developing exploits - that if unpatched, may lead to compromise of your device or your private/sensitive data.
