Transfer (?which?) purchased items to Mac (?how?)

Attempting to update my iPhone 6s from 15.5 to 15.6.1 using the MBP 16 with Monterey (12.5) I Get the warning message:

There are purchased items on the iPhone ... that have not been transferred to your Mac. You should transfer these items to your Mac before updating this iPhone. Are you sure you want to continue?

No further information is given, and no guidance as to what the items are, or what kind, nor about how to find this out. In particular, I don't know if this refers to apps that are currently offloaded from the iPhone to save storage. If so, do I know that they will be properly restored after the update -- or, at least, will still be able to be restored/re-downloaded with their data intact?

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, David!

We understand you want to know more about the message you're receiving when updating your iPhone 6S. We'd be happy to provide information to help you out.

There may be a variety of things triggering this message. Apps do not get backed up to your computer, so these would not be bringing this message up. The message may be appearing because of new song, movie, video, or ringtone purchases.

As always, you can redownload these directly from your iPhone:

Redownload music - Apple Support

Redownload TV shows and movies that you purchased - Apple Support

Have a great day!
