How to disable iPhone mute switch

The mute switch keeps getting accidentally turned on (I assume in my pocket) so I put a piece of electrical tape over it (avoiding any tape on the screen and tape is placed under my phone cover).

Then I programmed a double back tap to turn mute on and off (settings-accessibility- touch- back tap)

Only negative is losing being able to check if in silent mode by looking for orange line by switch.
