How about this for Macbook edge cover?

Many people have commented on other posts by those whose hands get irritated by the sharp edge of the MacBook that they have no problem with the edge. If you get no pain/irritation from using your MacBook, that is great. This question/discussion post is asking for suggestions on how to fix a problem some have. Yes, I know that palms rested on the laptop is not the, "correct," way to use a keyboard.

Resting palms on a laptop is the comfortable relaxed way to use a touchpad and keyboard while sitting with the computer in your lap, especially for many hours per day. I am a disabled senior so I spend most of my time in a bed that rises up to form a sort of lounge chair. I have seen several posts here from people with the same problem of the sharp edge irritating their palm(s) on a MacBook. Maybe Apple will come up with an accessory that will solve the problem.

The (photo below) is what I've come up with so far to prevent the sharp edge of the MacBook Air 2022, from digging into my palm as I work the touch pad with my right hand. The tape is double stick with no glue. It is some special plastic that sticks well and can be removed leaving no residue. I covered the tape with a strip of soft textured vinyl. Cloth strips cut from micro fiber cleaning cloths, (the kind that come with eyeglasses) may work too. This tape sticks very well. It will even mount framed photos etc., to walls.

Since the tape is 2mm thick, I may redo the strip and try to bevel the edge, or I may get a couple of palm pads made for MacBooks if I can find a couple that are near 2mm thick. Another consideration is to extend my tape based edge cover by placing two more strips above it, then stick that same textured vinyl to the strips to form a palm pad for typing.

Other suggestions I've found around the net have been to place a strip of duct or packing tape over the sharp edge. If the thickness of my no glue, but sticks, tape gets annoying, I may try thin sticky tape. Another recurring suggestion is to file the edge down. That is not an option for me, but I did considered it. I think rounding the sharp edge could be done with the correct file, which I don't have. Filing would also need precision which I don't have either.

My edge cover is not interfering with closing the lid but the lid is 2mm higher than is normally would be closed. If you think this is detrimental to the laptop, please leave a comment.

I searched for a case, without success, that may alleviate the irritation. If you know of one, please comment. Two palm pads are sounding better as I type this post. If you have found a way to dull that irritating edge without filing it down, please comment. We can do this.

Here it is:

I had downsized this photo in Preview. I thought it would be half this size.

I would not place anything between the keyboard and display. This article specifically mentions palm rest covers.
