How to eliminate One Touch ID activation after Sleep or Screen Saver?

I love One Touch ID activation!

But my MacBook Air 2022 with Monterey requires One Touch every time/always when computer has simply been in Sleep mode or Screen Saver activity.

Just moving mouse alone doesn't restore computer screen as in past (on MBPro with Catalina).

Tiny irritant but I'd like to eliminate it! How? TIA

MacBook Air 11″, OS X 10.10

Hello,

Ensure the password isn't set to be required when waking the Mac from sleep, by following these steps:

Require a password after waking your Mac - Apple Support

"On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Security & Privacy, then click General.

Select “Require password… after sleep or screen saver begins.”

Click the pop-up menu and choose the time that passes before a password is required."

Additionally, the following actions are required for waking the Mac from sleep:

"Wake your Mac from sleep

To wake your Mac, do any of the following:

  • Press a key on the keyboard, or click the mouse or trackpad.
  • On a Mac notebook computer, open the display."

See that information here: Put your Mac to sleep or wake it - Apple Support

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Kind regards.

On my M1 MBA - the " One Touch Activation " aka Touch ID will not function after a period of Sleep and will not function from a Cold Boot.

Above are all normal behaviours.

The Manual Typing In the password is required and that too is totally normal and is by Apple Design.

Suggest following the advise from the previous postings and the links they have included

The Touch ID on Apple Computers does not function like on some Older Apple iPhones which have the Touch ID button and later replaced by Face ID which effectively eliminated the Touch ID button altogether

Greetings,

In order to manage what you use Touch ID for, review the guidance found here:

Use Touch ID on Mac - Apple Support

Change Touch ID preferences on Mac - Apple Support

"Rename or delete fingerprints

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Touch ID
  2. Do any of the following:
    • Rename a fingerprint: Click the text below a fingerprint, then enter a name.
    • Delete a fingerprint: Click a fingerprint, enter your password, click OK, then click Delete."

Take care.
