I do not have enough Space on my iPhone 7 to receive the latest update from IOS. I have tried everything that, but I can't free up enough space to receive the update. I have backed up my phone to the cloud, but obviously I am not sure what comes next. How will I know if the phone actually backed up to the cloud and if it will actually update later in the evening?

Try updating using your computer, it requires less space on your phone.

What is it that is taking up the storage space on your iPhone? Are there apps you can delete and reinstall? (You can remove the app while saving the associated data for when you reinstall.) Is there music you can remove and later reinstall? Same question for videos.
I did offload some apps that were taking up a lot of space; but the real culprit was the “other” storage area where other data had; I.e. history accumulated overtime. I was able to delete all the history data there, after forcing a manual download to iTunes my Laptop!
