(Am running Monterey 12.4 on a 2019 purchase of a Mac Book Air from an Apple Store.)

Apple released a Security update for Monterey on Aug 17, 2022 an iOS update the same day to address this issue
Monterey is version 12.5.1 and iOS is iOS 15.6.1
