Except in the rare instance of a calendar only on the phone, all calendars sync to one or more email servers. So all you need to do is add the account that hosts the calendar to your phone.
Go to Settings/Calendar/Account, tap Add Account, and then Google, and follow the instructions.

Open Settings/Calendar/Accounts - do you see the gmail account, and does it say Calendar?
Then open the Calendar app, tap on Calendars, and make sure that calendar is checked.
OK, to be clear, your Apple calendar is not syncing from device to device; both devices sync to your calendar in iCloud.
Go to Settings/Calendar/Accounts. Do you see the account that hosts your google calendar? This might not be your personal google calendar, it may be calendar that your boss created and shared. To check this, log in to google.com and view the calendar on your computer.
You are correct. No information will be transmitted from your Google calendar to your iCloud calendar, and no information will be transmitted from your iCloud calendar to your Google calendar. That’s not how calendars work. The calendar app can display multiple calendars from different sources, but each one is a separate calendar. If you want your iCloud calendar entries on your Google calendar, log in to Google and add the iCloud calendar to your Google calendar page. You will have to add it as a CALDAV link, which is a little complicated, but can be done. Google has instructions on how to do that.
On your phone, tap the Calendar app.
Then tap on Calendars at the bottom of the screen.
You will see a list of calendars. Make sure the Google calendar is checked.
If you have the gmail calendar checked in the Calendar app, then that is not the Google calendar that is being shared with you. Log into Google with the same email address, and look at the Google calendar in a web browser.
I appreciate the response but I've done what you suggested following your instructions(which I also found on the web) 3 separate times...each time powering off the phone completely to reset...power up and nothing is "pairing" or "synching". I use my apple calendar for home, social, volunteer and now my new part time work (retired)…the challenge is my boss uses "Google" calendar and I'm at my wits end to get my iPhone Mini 13 with the most recent software update to synch....maddening... Thanks anyway....
Let me try to be clear, apologies for any confusion. My apple calendar DOES in fact synch from my phone to my laptop. And vice versa all the time without interruption.
I've followed with precision the steps to “add” my Google calendar so my Apple calendar will sync with my Google calendar but all attempts have failed.
I can open my Google calendar and see it’s mine. My boss has not added his calendar to my phone or laptop and that is not the goal.
the goal is to allow my apple calendar to synch with my Google calendar.
if I can accomplish that I can then share my Google calendar with my boss who is not an IOS user. Thank you again for your reply
You can’t share your Google calendar with your Apple calendar. You can ADD your Google Calendar to the calendar app on your iPhone and view it in the Calendar app.
Are you syncing your iPhone and laptop with a USB cable, or by setting up both your iPhone and Mac with a iCloud?
This is not what is happening.
As I’ve mentioned but let me be clear.
No one is sharing a Google calendar with me.
All that I’m looking to do is synch MY apple calendar with MY Google calendar.
As shown below MY Google calendar has been set up No info is being transmitted from my Apple calendar to My Google calendar Hopefully this clears up my situation for you appreciate your patience and help
Yes, on the bottom of my Apple calendar I've indicated a check mark by my Google calendar but now that you have have clarified that what I'm trying to do is not feasible, I'll end with my grateful appreciation for your help. Signing off.
thanks
Oh, PS...I use the apple calendar on my laptop as well...those synch fine...the laptop and the phone....
Cloud synch. Not USB.
Yes. . All checked. I would send a screenshot but this system doesn’t support it
