Securing macOS 10.13.6 High Sierra

Hi, guys,

I'm sticking to 10.13.6 on my 9.5-year-old 27" iMac, which is my workhorse as a graphic designer. For many reasons, I can't upgrade beyond that.

What I'd like to know is how well my iMac is secured, especially after reading the "Apple urges users to update devices due to serious security flaw" story on the "Today" online page today

I use 2 paid virus-protection programs, clamXAV and the basic Avast Security, as well as Malwarebytes.

Is there anything else that I should be doing, besides being careful not to open suspicious links or websites?

I was actually using Chrome for quite a while (still on OS 10), but then it became SO SLOW that I had to switch to Safari. But I can switch back to Chrome.

btw, which of them browsers I can expect to work best with my 10.13?

I will give it a try tomorrow and come back with my impressions in a couple days.

But, together with the 3 pieces of security software that I mentioned owning, having a more “modern” browser is the answer to my concerns?

Hi,

Safari for High Sierra has not been updated in some time now. I recommend switching to a browser which is still being updated, such as Firefox or Chrome or Brave.
