WLAN VS WiFi

Sorry if this sounds silly but I purchased an iPhone X ( my first iPhone ) and in my settings, my phone says WLAN and all my family's which are also iPhone X say WiFi. Can anyone explain this ? I really appreciate any help you can provide.

It may be a model that was made for use in China. What model number appears in Settings -> General -> About?

All iPhones are manufactured in China, though that may have changed recently.

iPhone models made for specific countries or markets have some differences. Models made for the China market may use the word WLAN instead of WiFi, which has some differences to be compliant with local regulations. If I remember right, earlier models made for use in China had no WiFi capability, as that was not yet certified for use in handheld devices there.
