How do i know my MacBook Air has the current security update. My computer shows version 10.10.5 but my phone has 15.6

Mac system software has a version numbering unrelated to the iPhone system software numbering, so you can’t compare those. Older devices have a maximum version system software, and newer versions software wouldn’t be compatible with that older hardware.
As for age, OS X Yosemite 10.10.0 is from 2014, 10.10.5 is from 2015, with a last security update from 2017. It is now unsupported an no new security updates will be released. “Current” is a big word for ‘abandoned’ versions, but build 14F2511 (2017-003) would be the last of the 10.10.x releases. Any MacBook Air that can run OS X Yosemite 10.10.x, can also run at least OS X El Capitan 10.11.x. So it seems your Mac is not up-to-date. Update (or upgrade) macOS on Mac - Apple Support
