My wife receives my Message when she is away from home but not when she is home

My wife receives my Message when she is away from home but not when she is home. We both have iPhones, different phone numbers, each signed in with our own ID's. My Message sent to her are Green text color, sent to anyone else are Blue text color. Mine is iPhone 11Pro her iPhone is iPhone 13

It sounds like her account possibly isn’t fully registed for iMessage. (what links her phone number to iMessages)

Green means your messages to her are being sent via “plain ol’ SMS text” and the telco vice iMessage sent via “data.”

See if this might help for HER phone.

My wife for some reason in her head refuses to enable iMessage so I guess this is all mute. She has it in her head that some of her contacts with other than iPhones will not be able to reach her. She does not understand the dual concept of SMS if not iMessage and refuses to enable iMessage despite being on a much newer phone, 13, than the 5 she was on then.

Well … at least you discovered the cause of the “malfunction.”

She clearly recalls - quite accurately - back when our contact’s phone numbers were segregated as “mobile” or “iPhone.”

You might have success in explaining that now it’s “automatic” … an iPhone will automatically check to see if a phone number is an “iMessage’able” number … and send via SMS if it’s NOT.

A non-iPhone simply won’t check as it HAS to send via SMS.

That said, we all know the futility of using “facts” to sway individuals whose minds are “already made up.”

Thanks for “following-up w/ the status” in this thread.

Thanks for your follow-up as well. I do computer and Windows tech support for a niche software company. And it can be next to impossible to get through the female mind when it is set. She won’t listen to reason, nor to it is better for you and the phone. “No, you’re a 30+ year Microsoft support person, not Apple support” Don’t get excited, bite your tongue, you are not going to get through to them that don’t want getting through to. 🤪
