What is the difference between passwords and passcode?

In general a passCODE is a 4-6 digit code, for example used to unlock a mobile device after you turn it on, and a passWORD is what is used to log into your Apple ID account. Passcodes are usually numbers but you could have your device set to use an alphanumeric passcode.
