I have tried over and over again to edit contact info - both on my phone and my mac, and the same thing keeps happening - a few seconds after I edit, the information reverts to what was there previously, all new information gone. This is not a small issue, being unable to update contacts on my phone makes it pretty much useless for work.

I created this User Tip as the basic framework to manage and restore contacts - Contacts
Contacts can sometimes become scattered or multiplied when syncing or when changing devices. To ensure that contacts are always correct, follow these few simple steps. These steps include a Mac but do not include the steps for a PC. These steps include the use of iCloud and do not require purchasing additional storage. Make sure you back up your devices regularly so you have a back up to restore from if needed.
If you are missing contacts because you recently deleted an email account, add it back until you perform these steps.

Go to settings>Apple ID>iCloud>Manage storage - delete anything you think you can delete.
Have you tried connecting it to a computer and backing it up that way?
I get, "iPhone cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available."
(No, I am not willing to buy more storage just to have a functioning address book.)
Hey, I REALLY appreciate this and will work through the steps, but I have to say, this is absolutely asinine! This cannot be the way it is "supposed" to work, surely? Why is it like this?
Thanks. I did that. I only have 95MB in storage now (says it's docs and photos, can't seem to get rid of it). But that's all that's there. Still won't back up.
