soundcloud

I am trying to upload straight from garageband to soundcloud and I can't get past the login screen - once I enter my username and password the load screen freezes, I click reload and it reads "There was an issue exchanging for an access token".

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.6

There are instructions for sharing to SoundCloud that can be found here: Share songs to SoundCloud from GarageBand on Mac


"Share a song to your SoundCloud account


  1. In GarageBand on Mac, choose Share > Song to SoundCloud.
  2. If you aren’t currently logged in to your SoundCloud account, enter your email address and password, then click Connect.
  3. Alternatively, you can log in to your Facebook or Google account.
  4. In the Share to SoundCloud dialog, do the following:
    • To sign in to a different SoundCloud account, click Change, then enter the login information for the account.
    • To share an audio file, select File, click Browse, then browse to the location of the file.
    • To share the current song, select Bounce.
  • Enter title, artist, composer, and album information for the project in the respective text fields.
  • Songs must have a title in the Title field. The remaining information is optional.
    • Tip: You can also add these tags in My Info preferences.
    • Choose the quality level for the song from the Quality pop-up menu.
    • Choose the visibility level for the song from the Visibility pop-up menu.
    • Set download and streaming permissions for the project in the Permissions section.

5.Click Share.

6.To return to GarageBand without sharing the song, click Cancel."


Also see: If you can't upload to SoundCloud from Logic Pro or GarageBand on your Mac. A workaround may be to upload directly through the browser.


"Upload your GarageBand song to SoundCloud on a Mac


  1. In GarageBand on your Mac, choose Share > Export Song to Disc.
  2. Set your export options:
    • Choose AIFF or WAVE.
    • Choose Uncompressed 16-bit from the Quality pop-up.
    • To export only the part of the song covered by the cycle region, or only the part of the project defined by selected regions, select the “Export cycle area, or length of selected regions (if Cycle is turned off)” checkbox.

3.Choose a location for the audio file, then click Export.

4.Sign in to your SoundCloud account in a browser, click Upload on the SoundCloud website, then upload your audio file."


Finally, you may need to contact SoundCloud support to find out more about the access token. SoundCloud Help Center.
