Has any former Paint Shop (PSP) user found graphics program out there that runs close to PSP ?

Curious to hear experiences with former users of Paint Shop Pro who switched to another graphics program. Hopefully one that is close to being as familiar to PSP as possible to cut down on the learning curve.

I switched to a Mac prior to realizing that there is not a native Paint Shop Pro version for Mac.

Short of running a Windows on my Mac (virtually or however that is done if it's possible) and buying Adobe products...I'm on the search for an alternate to PSP that I can fully use without having to go back to my Windows PC for one program.

Thanks in advanced.

I have no idea how PSP works, but I do know of several useful alternatives to Adobe's bloated, overpriced stuff.

Affinity has a few graphics oriented apps at reasonable prices.

There is also Pixelmator Pro and Pixelmator Photo. Again, reasonable pricing.

A more basic app is Graphic.

I'm currently on the 2nd day of the 7 day trail for Pixelmator Pro & while it looks promising and has a nice price...it's frustrating to figure out. It's lay-out is vary familiar to Photoshop too which has a very hard, long learning curve (and like you said bloated, overpriced). I couldn't figure out how to do something that takes me 3-5 minutes in PSP, so fired up the laptop to do that quick job. It does look promising and isn't expensive really. The fact that I'm trying to figure out & learn how to use a Mac (after decades of Windows use) isn't helping me give it fair shake. The price is tempting though.

Downloaded & Installed Affinity Photo since it has a 10 day trial. And did something I did in PSP in about a minute longer. So considering part of it is figuring out where iOS put stuff for apps this is more promising IMO. It's lay-out looks closer to PSP and it was easy to figure out. Price is higher than Pixelmator Pro but about what PSP would cost, so still reasonable.

From the screenshots I see for Graphic its layout isn't bad looking so might explore that later. Wish it had a trail period.

Thanks for the suggestions. And thanks for giving me suggestions that didn't have a subscription plan ;)

  • Unrelated...nice plane in your avatar, never worked the "E" model, but worked A, B, C & D models of the Eagle.
