Update: found a work around: if we put the left air pod in first, let it connect, then put the right airpod in, both work fine. Then we can remove the left air pod and the right continues to work. If we try to just put in the right air pod first it will not work. Background: We only use one airpod when we are running and/or driving so we can remain aware of our surroundings.

Please Clarify "not working":
Well, how exactly is it not working? Are you having audio issues? Are they not connecting? Or is it something else?
Troubleshooting AirPods Balance:
A. Start with a Reset:
Go Here: How to Reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support
B. Visit Apple Support links
C. Verify an App's Balance:
If using an App, note that apps have their own balance settings as well. That would overrule that set in the Mac. So, make sure that the balance is set in the middle on an app itself..
D. Also, Clear Out Earwax:
Go Here: How to clean your AirPods and EarPods - Apple Support
E. Using an App?:
Check and make sure that the balance on the app is not more or less towards one side.
My husband and I are having the same issue with our AirPods Pro. Both right ear pods (2 different AirPods sets) are not working. We go through the many steps to get them working again and they work for about 24 hours and then they completely stop again. This has been happening for the past couple of weeks. I’m thinking it’s an issue with a recent iOS update since it’s only the right ear and it’s happening to so many people….
