Suddenly my locally stored files won't open if I'm offline

I was away from my wifi today, and I tried to open a file stored on my device in Pages, and pages hung. Some other apps that were supposed to run offline had similar problems. I got back in wifi range, and suddenly everything works fine again. So I manually turned off the wifi, and sure enough, Pages can't open files anymore.

Is it just my device with this problem?

Hello, lavenderbard.

There are some files that would require an internet connection to update, such as collaborative files or updating changes made to the file last. But you should be able to open the Pages app and see your content with or without an internet connection. It's possible that this was a one-time odd issue, but we definitely want to make sure this doesn't continue.

With with all unexpected iPad behavior, try taking the following steps which may help with this: restart your iPad, make sure it is up to date, close the Pages app, then reopen it and make sure all apps are updated.

    1. Restart your iPad
    2. Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    3. Quit and reopen an app on iPad
    4. How to manually update apps on your Apple device

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue. Thanks and have a fabulous day!
