How can I quickly find unread messages on apply watch?

Hi this is driving me crazy. My watch almost always indicates that I have unread iMessages, but when I click on the icon to check them, I can never find them. I end up scrolling and scrolling and finding no unread messages. Is there somewhere I can click to be taken directly the unread content?

Thanks

I just rechecked and I stand corrected. I've never seen that icon before. As far as finding your unread message, have you tried locating it on your iPhone? It should be on the top of the list of messages unless you have received any messages since you received that message. Try resetting the Watch. Press and hold the Digital Crown and the power button together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The Watch will reboot. See if that clears the number. But I still believe it would be better to try and locate on the phone and see if finding it on the iPhone will clear that notification if you cannot clear it on the Watch.

That icon is not unread messages. That is for a different app, possibly WhatsApp? Do you use that? iMessage would be a red dot at the top center of the screen, which is a notification. The Messages app icon on the Watch looks like the Messages app icon on the iPhone. Check your WhatsApp app on your iPhone. I believe you can only receive notifications for WhatsApp, not read/send messages.

So that icon is definitely for 'messages'. 1) when I click on it, it literally takes me to a screen that says 'messages' at the top and then has a list of my chats that's more or less mirrored to what's on my phone. 2) It's not really similar at all to the WhatsApp icon. I'm happy to provide more screenshots and photos of what I'm seeing if that helps

I'm not saying it's specifically for unread messages (because it's not - it's a shortcut to the 'messages' app), but the little number there does refer to the number of unread messages. This is super annoying because it says I have one unread message but when I look, I can't find it anywhere. To be clear, my question is about how to find this elusive unread message.

Thanks!
