You can upgrade to the current version of macOS.

Thanks a lot for this info Dialabrain.

I inherited this iMac from my son who uses a variety of computers in his high-end fashion photography business. He's just bought the latest desktop M2 machine and gave me this 2017 iMac after removing everything and taking it back to factory settings.

I've been nursing along a 21.5" iMac 2013 machine which I somehow, unfortunately, allowed it to update to the Catalina OS. I've been using Mac in graphics since 1989, but am now mainly interested in accessing a lot of legacy stuff before tossing the 12.5".
