Flagging an email.

As someone pointed out in November 2021, with Monterey flags no longer appear in the list in the mailbox where they caught the eye and were a real reminder. They are now useless because you have to have thought of them already and open the flagged mailbox, or open every email to see if it's flagged.

Why did Apple get rid of such a useful tool? In fact my update to Monterey has been a real pain - when an update which irons out all the glitches?

Hi grandemamam,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Am using Monterey 12.5.1, and find that flags work ok in Mail

Flagged eMails appear ok in the headings of any eMail in the sidebar that I flag.

Wondering if you need to check your settings: in Mail > Preferences > Viewing > List Preview

to show more of the message in the sidebar (eg: 2 lines).

Here's Apple Supoport's article for using flags in Monterey.
