I have only phone
You will need an Apple Watch to record cycling, distance and move count.

Thanks! When I was seriously into cycling, it was long before the Apple Watch so, we made do.
Same here. However, I got back into cycling again last year and this time no Strava needed due to the Apple Watch. Not taking anything away from Strava. It is a good app.
