Migration Assistant + Time Machine = Failed Recovery

Possibly I’m doing something incorrectly, but after an issue with my 2014 Intel Mac mini, running Monterey 12.5, trying to recover from an issue by using a Time Machine backup via Migration Assistant . . . didn’t work. When I say “didn’t work” here’s what I mean. Although everything seemed to go well, booting into the recovered system was a nightmare. The main issue was everything that ends up in “Security & Privacy” when you do software installations. After the recovery, there were no entries in Accessibility, Full Disk Access, Files and Folders, etc., etc., etc. Which means that Dropbox, Boxcryptor and Apple’s iCloud all thru up windows complaining about connection/account issues and refused to load. And, at least in my case, trying to manually add back all the entries that originally resided in “Security & Privacy” didn’t work well at all. Having multiple backups (Carbon Copy Cloner & ChronoSync) of all my data, I finally decided to just erase the internal drive, reinstall macOS and then reinstall all my software. Took a few days to finally get everything setup the way it originally was, but at least it’s done. Apple’s continuing march toward locking down the operating system (ie. bootable clones) more and more with each OS release, are making recovery from an issue (at times self inflicted, at times Apple sponsored) more and more painful. I may try a SuperDuper clone to an external SSD and see how I’ll fare booting off that.

Tried a SuperDuper test clone with a spare SSD. Result, no warning windows, no complaints from Dropbox, Boxcryptor or Apple's iCloud. Every item that was in the “Security & Privacy” preferences in the original was there in the clone. Tried at least a dozen installed applications and each and every one ran without a hiccup. Booted and functioned like I had booted off the internal Mac mini SSD. What an amazing piece of software.
