Try updating while in Safe Mode. Not sure what your iPhone has to do with anything.

The software update screen continues with a spinning wheel. I have also tried downloading the update when it appears after I plug my iphone into the USB and it stalls after just a tiny bit of the line appears.
What happens when you try?
