airpod max bluetooth connection

My airpods max will be connected to my computer and then ill go on my phone, they will automatically switch to my phone but wont switch back to my Mac. This is very frustrating when im working and dont want them to switch away from my computer

"Turn off automatic switching

If you don't want your AirPods to switch automatically, you can turn off automatic switching on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV.


On your iPhone or iPad


  1. With your AirPods in your ears and connected to your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods in the list of devices.
  3. Tap Connect to This iPhone [or iPad].
  4. Tap When Last Connected to This iPhone [or iPad].
  5. To turn on this feature again, tap Automatically.


On your Mac


  1. With your AirPods in your ears and connected to your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Bluetooth.
  2. Click the Options button next to your AirPods in the list of devices.
  3. From the Connect to This Mac menu, choose When Last Connected to This Mac.
  4. To turn this feature on again, choose Automatically."
