The security programs are needed and because I do not have the latest update. The program from McAfee will not function properly, this is not right on the consumer side of the equation.

IMHO, it is a good thing that McAfee will not run. You do not need third party apps that claim to protect, clean, manage, etc.

Installing this app will slow down your computer and can also cause other operational problems. The Mac's OS has its own built in protections and because the OS is write protected, it cannot be changed or infected. Use the McAfee uninstaller app to completely uninstall it and know that your Mac is safe to use.
need to install 10.14.1 to receive upgragrades to McAfee
