Remove the sim, clean the contacts, re-insert the sim.

Still not working, contact your wireless provider to be

sure your account is active and properly provisioned.

Still no joy, get a new sim.

Still not working,

Make an appointment at the nearest Apple location to have your iPhone evaluated for free.

Once the diagnostics are complete, the staff will explain your options.
