Regarding photo curation...

I was looking for a photo of a document. Knew I had taken it, but it was not in my photo library. It was not a great photo, but it did not need to be.

I am quite concerned at something being purged without my explicit approval. Can this feature be turned off yet?

Even if the photos just went into a "curated" folder it would be helpful.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no such feature.

Ok, maybe something else is at work here. But it would be nice to have a clear article explaining how curation works, and how to see both the curated content and the original, in the Apple knowledge base!

Photos doesn't automatically delete your pictures. That's why you can't find any documentation about it. Apple doesn't document features that don't exist.

The only kind of curation I know of is the creation of "Memories". But that doesn't involve deleting anything from your Library.

Photos does not automatically delete anything-- certainly not based on its idea of a "good" photo. I have many (many) blurry pictures that I keep in photos libraries and, even if I had wished, they do not disappear without me pushing buttons. I suspect there is another explanation for your missing picture-- perhaps you might try hunting in other places?

I actually wouldn't mind if the six photos I took of my breakfast were slimmed down to one automatically, but I want to be able to click on a button to toss the 5 discarded, for sure.

Thank you.
