Use of a Prepaid SIM card on IPhone 12

Hello all,

I"m leaving next week for a trip to Europe and I purchased a propaid SIM card (Orange) for the duration of the trip. My question is this the card comes of course with a European phone number. But I'm wondering if my existing app will still work. For example will I be able able to receive emails or check on my notes? Will the photo I take with the phone still move to my cloud while I'm using the prepaid SIM card?

Another option I have is putting the SIM card in my old Iphone 8 and use the newer phone while on Wifi. Would that be a better option.

Thanks in advance

As you’ve already purchased the Orange SIM this may be too late, but AT&T and Verizon have very attractively priced international roaming plans that just extend your “home” plan for international travel. I don’t know Verizon’s well, but AT&T’s plan costs $10 for any day when you actually use your phone for cellular voice or data, with a $100 maximum per billing period. If you have Wi-Fi calling and you use Wi-Fi for data, text or voice the $10 charge does not apply.

Yes. The SIM card ha soothing to do with where you emails come from or where you store your notes. That is accessed over the internet on your Apple ID regardless of what phone number or carrier you are using. Do note, calls placed to your regular local number will not come in, while the other SIM card is inserted in the iPhone. You will not receive messages to your local number either.

People that all you will need to use the number did to the sim card form Orange instead of your regular one.

That's up to you. Either way works, as long as you are aware of the issues you may have.
