If recovery key does not work on MacBook air

If you have access to a passcode protected trusted device, then generate a new recovery key after changing your Apple ID password.

If your Mac is a password protected trusted device, then follow these steps:

"To reset your password on your trusted Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences. Then click Apple ID, click Password & Security, and follow the onscreen instructions."

Then, see if you can generate a new recovery key following the steps in the article at the top of the page.
