macbook air right speaker doesn't work (and all core audio is being routed to the left speaker)

all core audio output is being routed to the left speaker (stereo left and right channels), no idea why that's happening all of a sudden. tried adjusting the left-right slider in audio midi setup and system settings and doing sudo killall on my coreaudio, nothing seems to fix it. any ideas how to fix this issue? thank you in advance.

Hi damianmusic,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities! Sounds like you've done some great troubleshooting so far. Is your macOS up to date? You can confirm there is no update to install by going to the Apple menu (  ) > System Preferences > Software Updates.

Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

If your Mac was already up to date or updating didn’t resolve the issue, please create a new Administrator account and test there. This will demonstrate if the issue is only with your account or is system-wide. Here are the steps if you need them: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support

Once the new Administrator account has been created, log out of your own account and into the new one and test the issue.

Please let us know the results when you're able.

Take Care!
