my saved (+1000s) and new mail messages periodically disappear and then download again. This happens about once a month for no apparent reason. any reason why this is happening and how can I stop it? I have a gmail accounts and local ISP accounts.

Who is you local ISP provider...(?)
Are these IMAP accounts(?)
old issue ,new issue, what changed?
For problem accounts if no insight, removing the account and adding it back in to sort anomalies not easily explained away—
