My virtual keyboard doesn’t always pop up when I’m in gmail. I can turn my iPad off and on and the keyboard will work for a few days then stop again. Someone suggested clearing the cache of the keyboard, but I don’t have the path suggested. Any idea how to get to the keyboard cache now?

Go to the browser settings. In Safari, Settings > Safari > scroll down to Clear History & Website Data. Be aware that you may need to sign into some sites as that also clears out cookies. But I doubt that that may help with your keyboard.
Honestly just a Google search. I’m actually trying anything that might work. That advice was for Android, turns out.
Where did you get that information? I have never heard of a hardware "cache" - browsers, yes. For that go to your browser settings.
