What is a network service proxy . Proxy token?
I have a MacBook Pro m1 with Touch Bar. Since at least July 11th I have been and am positive that all my accounts are compromised, including my iCloud, despite countless password changes and other modifications. This is definitely aside from my question here as I don’t want to get everyone riled up, but might be relevant to the question…
around 3 weeks to a month ago I began having these popups show up on my computer including “transparent network proxy and “com.Apple.NetworkServiceProxy.ProxyToken”” wants to use your confidential information stored in your keychain. To allow this enter the “login” keychain password. I guess my main questions are: what is it and why won’t it stop asking everyday if I already gave the info? There are times when it asks a few times a day, among other similar type requests. For the seekers of unbelievable precise details: the popup states exactly what I said above, it’s in a normal looking Apple popup window which shows up in the absolutely surgical precise center of my screen. The most recent one happened tonight at 6:59 pm and I was actually doing NOTHING regarding my network (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth were “off”) and other times it just as well shows up randomly. But beyond that, I can’t imagine what info I could give on the matter as it’s something random but has been happening daily I believe (I also can’t say if it for sure happened EVERY day but I’m going to go out on a limb and say it has on account of it seeming that way and not really remembering if there’s a time it hasn’t popped up). And finally, I’m on Monterey 12.5.1
also for clarification, I am the sole and only owner of this MacBook, bought new in box, have never let anyone use it and can’t think of a way anyone did or could use it: I keep a camera in my office where it is and haven’t forgotten to use it, also have no kids.
so back to the basics, I have this popup and would love to know what it is, why it’s here and could anyone help me get rid of it. I apologize if I sound rash, that’s not my intention. There are others as well that concern me but maybe another time. Thank you all so much for what you do, it’s helped me quite a bit in my ability to navigate this stuff in the past.
i suppose as a bonus if someone could tell me why most times I go to log in after I’ve put in my password I get immediately taken to another screen that has my user login pic and fields for input and another directly next to it with no picture and the name “other…”
I have never made any other users or groups or anything in my life for this or any other machine. As well, occasionally I get a user in my users and groups named “avmetareadwrite” which I obviously promptly delete but comes back more and more frequently. I’ve tried wiping (more than once) and I’ve tried a lot of other things. No luck. I’ve also never used or tried to use or wanted to use remote anything, except for when Apple themselves have screenshared to fix other things.
any help on this would be fantastic. Thanks again guys.
