Does apple still fix airpods if warranty expires while in their care?

Hello, so my warranty expires on September second and apple has taken a bit longer then the 2 days they told me to send the box to get replacement airpods… I’m worried that by the time they replace them the warranty will end. I plan to extend it regardless however i was wondering if they would still fix them since i made the report ahead of the expiration date or if they would charge me full price if the warranty expires while they have the airpods.
