My normal left column with the phone numbers from previous messages has disappeared, and now all I have is a skinny little column that does show a partial message and gives me basically no way to figure out who the messages are from.

How do I get the regular left hand column back with identifying phone numbers and the beginning words of the text? It disappeared, and now there's a skinny little one with no identifying way to figure out who I have texted with.

In the Messages Application to Vertical Bar and be resized to the right or left

Mouse overs the Vertical Bar until the Double Headed Arrow appears and move to right or left will make the Columns wider or smaller
