Cannot connect to the Apple ID Server while trying to reset the password on a MacBook I have not used an older MacBook in a while and forgot the password. I want to reset my password with the Recovery Assistant but it is not connecting to the Internet when trying to confirm my Apple ID. I get the error message "There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server."

Unable to login into MacBook Air I have tried to reset the password with my AppleID, but it says there is a problem connecting with the server. I have tried to connect to my home wifi and my phone as a hotspot, still no luck with the server and when I click “forgot password,” it says an internet connection is needed (even after the wifi bars appear to show connected and not grayed out). I have landed on the macOS Recovery screen, but I have never gotten to a place where there is a “top toolbar” or way to access utilities. Please help :(

How many times did you attempt to connect? Is this a first problem or has it happened before?

A busy server and busy internet can cause this. Wait a while and try again.
