IPhone12 screen dims in sunlight

My iphone12 dims and almost goes into «black modus» making it impossible to read and operate after a few minutes outside and in sunlight.

«Adjust for sunlight» is off in my setting.

This has been the behavior of my iphone12 since purchased, and a different behavior than my old iphone7 with same setting and sunlight expose.

The iphone12 is not exposed for heat, it happens in my hand, but being outdoors in the sun.

i have testet another iphone12 and my old iphone7 with my iphone12 with same setting, sunlight (and eventual heat) expose.

While my iphone12 dims after a short while and making it impossible to read the screen, the other iphones are all OK.

Apple repair says just wit a one sentence that this is not an error with the product.

The situation is that being outside in the sun, I need to carry and use my old iphone7 with me, as the iphone12 goes into black screen. This is a big problem and I have difficulties to accept apples conclusion that there are no errors.

Before:

  1. A friends iphone12 to the left
  2. my iphone12 in the middle
  3. my old iphone7 to the right

All phones have same setting, same sun and heat expose

After:

After a short while, my iphone12 goes and stays in dimmed screen and impossible to use.

this happens also when temperatures are very low (I live in norway), so heat is not the

oroblem for the different behavior of my iphone12

please give some advice what do so I can use

my iphone12 outdoors.

All iphones in my described test have identical setting, (no sun adjustment and brightnes set to full).

The question (and my problem) is why my iphone12 does not handle normal sunshine (just being outdoors and no heat expose) different and abnormal compare to other iphone12 and my old iphone7?

I had exactly the same problem I had with my iPhone Rx and in August 2020. The problem error was admittet and I got an replacement. The iPhone Rx went completely dimmed in to black less than a minute after i went outside in the sun. It has nothing to do with the heath, as it also happens during the winter time on a sunny day.

I tried several tips from forums and other internet pages, but nothing helped and as said it was admitted that it is an error. The problem is also that as soon as a customer has paid for the iPone and something occurs, it is a struggle and a hassle to be heard and accepted.

It does not help that Apple uses a stadard test and run this on the iPone with this problem. The only thing that helps is to take the iPone out in the sun and test there.

The message I got from Eplehuset i Norway was this: «Then I have finished troubleshooting your iPhone and I have ordered a replacement unit as iPhones with this error cannot be repaired. This is covered by reclamation.

In Norway the reclamation cicks in if the guarantee periode has past. The reclamation periode is 5 years for iPones. The Supreme Court in Norway has handed down a judgment that has become a precedent for iPhone reclamation that Apple wants to be 2 years, and they said: «The Supreme Court stated that 3-4 years is "significantly longer than two years" and that the warranty period for a mobile phone is therefore 5 years, and not 2 years.»
