I am having a problem with signing in into iMessages from my new MacBook Air M1. I type in email for Apple ID and a correct password, but it won't sign in, it's just spinning. Please help, and also, I can't use messages preferences, it's unresponsive and grey. I don't own an iPhone. PLEASE HELP!

A - Perchance, is the e-mail address associated with your Apple ID the same E-mail Address you are using to sign into Messages
A - Having been use iCloud mail since when the xx.mac.com domaine was used and then they moved to cc.me.com and eventually to xx.iCloud.com
I did all of it! Nothing works... Thank you anyway, do you have any more ideas?
