IPad Air 2022 volume buttons

Why is it that when I have my iPad Air turned sideways, the volume button on the left (which turns the volume up when the ipad is vertices) turns the volume down

This is how it is on the Air 5. On the iPad Pro models, you can lock the buttons regardless of orientation. Unfortunately, that option isn't available on the Air 5. I own both. Since this is a user to user only forum, none of us are privy to why Apple chose not to let the Air 5 buttons be locked, but that's the way it is.

Dynamic volume controls were only introduced with release of iPadOS 15.4 onwards. For reasons known only to Apple, the ability to either enable or disable this feature is not available for the iPad Air5 and iPad mini6.
