What do I do after resetting my laptop to factory settings but I only see a big flashing question mark and no other options to restart laptop ?

The flashing question mark means there is no operating system installed. You need to reinstall macOS.

If you meant to leave the drive empty, nothing.

If you meant to put an OS on it, go back into the recovery system, DVD, or thumbdrive you used to erase the drive and run the Installer.

You need to have started up from something other than the previous system to erase it. Repeat the process you used to get into that.

I don’t have a DVD nor a thumbdrive. It’s my sons laptop and want to use it myself now. I was trying to have a clean slate for me.

don’t see a way to reinstall the OS ?! or go to the recovery system. It’s just a black screen with the big Q mark symbol

How do I go back to the recovery system to put on OS?

i don’t see any tabs or a way to do that

only a flashing question mark
