Blocking A Contact on iPhone

I've blocked a contact on my iPhone. If I text them, will the text be received? So far, there's no "Delivered" message under the blue bubble. Thanks!

Why do I still receive texts from non-contacts despite the setting to block them on iPhone? I turned on the setting that prohibits text messages from being received by anyone not on my contact list, however, I still get plenty of those messages. The iPhone even puts a little subtext in there that says this person is not on your contact list. My first thought is “no kidding.“ My second thought is “then why do I keep getting these messages?“ or is that button in the settings like the proverbial light switch in an old house that doesn’t seem to operate anything? Does the lockdown mode prevent certain contacts from reaching me? Hello I received a notification saying one of my contacts tried to reach me, but lockdown mode prevented it. This is strange because I’m currently texting her, and she says she didn’t try to call. When I click on the notification, nothing happens. Can someone explain how this is possible and why lockdown mode blocks certain calls? Also, could iOS be wrong in saying that someone tried to reach me? thx
