Software Updates Kill Chargers
Multiple charging cords stopped working right after I installed an Apple update. (Ironic since phone needs to be charging to install update). Why and what is Apple prepared to to about that?
iPhone 11, iOS 15

Well, first, the phone does not need to be charging to install the update; the battery must just be above 50% and low power mode must be off. Sometimes I update with the phone plugged in, but not that often, and it works both ways.
Next, were these multiple charging cords all made by Apple or by a “respectable” manufacturer (Mophie, Anker, Griffin, etc) and labeled as Made for iPhone? (see→Why Counterfeit Lightning Cables Kill iPhones - Motherboard)
Have you inspected the Lightning port at the bottom of the phone, and cleaned it if necessary with a toothpick?

Try rebooting the device then plug the charger in.
If you’re getting an error message, what does it say?
Thanks very much, Lawrence. Did not know about MFi (great article link) but will buy only approved products in the future while still avoiding the overpriced Apple monopoly!
Had blown out the Lightening port, but just used a toothpick based on your suggestion.

Thanks- I did do that. It starts charging and then just stops. Happened on different chargers. All worked fine before the update.
