If the problem persists after restarting, as leroydouglas suggested, try restarting in Safe Mode. Same thing?
What is the exact model of your mac and what OS version are you running?
Do all other keys work?
Try temporarily connecting an external keyboard. Does it show the same problem?

It was turned off and I did everything folks suggested. The remote keyboard worked fine. Finally, after Googling and reading for a couple hours, rebooting and safe rebooting … I turned off the Sticky key and slow key options, rebooted and then it worked!!! Yay!!!

Check your Accessibility preferences and make sure that Full Keyboard Access is turned OFF.

You do not say what exact Mac?
Have you tried rebooting the machine?
The current stable release of Monterey including bug fixes, is macOS 12.5.1

Alwayskeepitupdated. Bluetooth keyboard works fine, but MacBook Keyboard still will not allow me to provide spaces between words.
