Calendar Notifications stopped working

My Devices and Versions:

-iMac Retina 4K, 2017, OS Big Sur 11.6.7

-iPhone SE, 2020, iOS 15.6.1

My notifications on both my Mac and iPhone have stopped working over the past year or so. I have been through my settings over and over. What am I missing? Here are my settings on the iphone:

Settings

-Notifications

--Calendar

---Allow Notifications, ON

---Immediate Delivery, Checked

---Time Sensitive Notifications, ON

---Alerts:

----- Lock Screen, Checked

-----Notification Center, Checked

-----Banners, Checked

--- Announce Notifications, ON (All Notifications)

--- Lock Screen, Show Previews, Always

-Sound & Haptics

--Calendar Alerts, Chord (Default)

-iCloud

--Calendars, iPhone ON

--Calendars, Mac, ON

For example, the pasted screenshots from my Mac and iPhone show my settings, and an HOA meeting I missed last night on August 30, 2022. I received NO notifications on my Mac or iPhone for this meeting.

Greetings bobbcat,

Does this situation seem to be impacting any other apps or is it isolated to the Calendar app? Do you sync your calendar(s) with any accounts such as iCloud or another email account?

It does look like on your iPhone that Do Not Disturb or a Focus are enabled and perhaps that is because of the time (4:59 am). Is that on all the time or is it shared across devices? Use Focus on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Thanks.

bobbcat,

We understand that your Calendar is not syncing across devices. We would recommend the steps in this article that can help: If your iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders won’t sync

These steps should help you troubleshoot why you’re receiving Calendar notifications on your Mac but not on your iPhone.

If you’re still experiencing the same issue, reach out to the community for more help.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

Cheers!

Hi AnnieL2, thanks for the offer to help.

The only other related iPhone app I use would be the Reminders app, which does not seem to have this issue. Yes, I do sync Calendars on my iPhone and mac over iCloud, so I have always expected to get a banner on both devices. But....

I half solved my problem. In my Mac systems preferences, I did not have notifications toggled on. I can not imagine how or why I would have ever turned that off, but it was off. After toggling it back on, I just ran a quick test alert and now my banners and sound appear on the Mac, but still not the iPhone. In fact, I entered the test alert from the iPhone, and it synced over to the Mac. iPhone stayed silent, no banners, sounds or notifications.

Do not disturb on the iPhone turns on at 10 pm and shuts off at 6 a.m., so that feature should not be a factor here. Thanks again for the help, I'm sure there is an answer right in front of me. Still trying.
