Apple Music not working on Macbook

We have a MacBook (Monterey OS 15.2) iphone 11 and iPad (Both with latest versions). We are subscribed to Apple Music. We can play downloaded music AND stream other songs from Apple Music on the iPhone and iPad. We can play downloaded music BUT NOT stream other Apple Music songs on the Mac. Have spent hours with various Apple agents (billing, Mac, etc) but still cannot get this to work.

We can stream music from Spotify and Amazon Music on ALL 3 devices with no problems.


Have also been dealing with this message that sometimes comes up 5-7 minutes after powering on:

“this mac cannot connect to Apple Media Services because of a problem with "EMAILADDRESS@gmail.com" Open Apple ID preferences to fix this problem". The email is NOT connected with any of the devices.

Is it an email address you own? Could the address belong to a previous owner? You might be separately signed into an Apple ID for media in Music, TV, Books, and Podcasts. The computer should be both authorized to your Apple ID, and associated with it. See Authorization vs. association - Apple Community for more. Do you use any form of VPN software? Any third party security software?


Note a single user Apple Music subscription can only stream content to one device at a time.
